La Encantada Mall

The Toy Store is still closed. So sad.

Trying out a Mac

Why is it when I find beautiful light and a still child, it's usually when he's stuffing his face?

Dark chocolate gelato. Yum!

Tucson Wildflowers 2010

Tucson Wildflowers 2010

I went for a short hike with the tall one (Mark) and the short one (Jonas) today down Yetman Trail in Tucson Mountain Park just east of Gates Pass. Our goal was wildflowers for Easter Sunday which we barely made before having to turn back on the trail because the short one got tired and grumpy.

I've decided that getting a good landscape shot is really difficult when you have a toddler with you, at least that's my excuse. Of course my idol is Yoshi Shioya if it has anything to do with stunning landscapes.

Sweet Dreams Little Man

Alas, he had to be woken shortly after this phto because his nap had been late and it was already past 5 pm.
Shot with natural late afternoon window light with a 50 mm fixed lens. Had to get advise from hubby to capture in low-light conditions. He told me to open up the aperture all the way.

Happy Feet

Ok I must confess...
I did not take this picture.
Mark did.
He's a remarkable photographer.
Really.
Ask to see his portfolio someday.

I can't sleep tonight so I'm browsing baby pictures which is what I like to do when I can't fall asleep. Jonas was 9 days old. We were trying to get shots for the birth announcement. He was NOT happy about having his picture taken.

I don't feel well. My lungs are tight and feel kinda "watery".
I'm on prednisone in hopes that it will cut the asthmatic coughing cycle I've gotten myself into recently.
I skipped my 9 mile run I was planning on doing with the Fleet Feet group this morning to get some rest, got a morning nap while Jonas and Daddy went to their swimming lesson, had Cheesecake Factory for lunch (yum!) and spent the afternoon at the park.
Maybe it was the nap. Maybe the coffee at lunch. Maybe the meds.
It's past midnight and I can't sleep.

I did do some postprocessing. The original was taken w/ a Canon 10D with (if I remember correctly) a 50 mm lens in natural filtered window light.  I used Picasa to "warmify", convert to B&W and then "warmify" again. I'm not happy with the degree that Picasa warms the tones with its sepia setting and there is no way to control the degree but this is the closest I could get with Picasa 3. I'll probably redo it once I get Photoshop on my computer.

King of the Mountain

I'm finding it incredibly hard to choose photos when the subject is my own son.
That and I wish Picasa had a
"Booger Filter".
